NAVY PIER – 8/16/2021

Navy Pier

NAVY PIER – 600 E. Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611, www.navypier.com

Q-Tips Say: Yes, go and enjoy! It is free to walk around NAVY PIER. The weather was outstanding. Unfortunately, They removed all of the Stained Glass Exhibit, for more restaurants.  Also enjoy the outdoor restaurants, & shopping. Many Restaurants (high end and low cost), & a food court. Perhaps take one of the Boat trips offered or just enjoy the free music at the outdoor restaurants and don’t forget to check out what is playing at the Theater/Playhouse. Many things for the little ones to do also! There is a new Water Park directly across from Navy Pier for the kids to play and keep cool.

Mrs. Q says: Our weekend guests enjoyed Navy Pier and Rivas. What a great deal, Navy Pier is FREE and so is the Trolley that operates during the summer but not this year. Mrs. Q says: FREE IS GOOD! DON’T forget to take a ride on the replica of the World’s Fair in 1893 Ferris Wheel. It does get busy on the weekends so, if possible, a visit on a weekday might be a better bet. Fire Works display every Weds. at 9:30 and Sat at 10:15 through Labor Day – it is a great way to end your visit to Navy Pier. About a four block walk from the Bus #147 (Illinois Stop) or, if you can, catch the FREE TROLLEY to Navy Pier. It is easy to get around in Chicago, everything is well marked and easy to follow, even if it is your first visit. Still not sure about where you are going? Ask someone, the people of Chicago are very friendly and more than willing to assist you.  We walked the Pier and enjoyed the Stained Glass Exhibit but the exhibit has been moved to another museum.. Yes, they do offer a food court and stores to buy your Chicago souvenirs.

A BIT OF HISTORY: Take a 7-minute ride on Navy Pier’s most visible attraction, the 150 foot-high Ferris wheel. The Ferris wheel is open year-round* and is great fun for kids of all ages! Modeled after the very first Ferris wheel, which was built for Chicago’s 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, the Navy Pier Ferris wheel provides unparalleled views of the Chicago skyline and lakefront. The Pier’s Ferris wheel has 40 gondolas, each seating up to 6 passengers. In the evening, the Ferris wheel’s 40 spokes, spanning a diameter of 140 feet, are illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights.

The NEW Ferris Wheel – bigger, enclosed with air con., a video screen and, of course, more expensive. Mrs. Q says: Why would you want to look at a video screen when you can be looking at the beautiful Chicago skyline? Go enjoy, we did.
