ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL is the story of Greg Gaines (Thomas Mann), an awkward high school senior whose mom forces him to spend time with Rachel – a girl in his class (Olivia Cooke) with whom he hasn’t spoken to since kindergarten – who was just diagnosed with cancer.
Q-Tips say: A wonderful well done movie. A movie about teens and a HS girl who finds out she has Leukemia. Mrs. Q says: Not necessarily a feel good movie tho there is humor in the movie. However, it shows how difficult it is for others when they find out someone, especially one so young has cancer. The young lady (Olivia Cooke) did an outstanding job showing the emotions a cancer patient goes through. Adults have trouble sometimes expressing their feelings to the person and many just don’t know what to say/do, but teens? Not going to tell you how it ends – you will have to see the movie. Mrs. Q liked that the theater had young people watching this movie along w/the older people. Mrs. Q had a cousin who died from Leukemia at a very young age. Yes, I, at that time, was at a loss for words to comfort her and the family. Now a days there are many more success stories when it comes to treating Leukemia and other types of cancer – thank goodness.
