National World War II Museum –  945 Magazine St.,New Orleans, LA  Warehouse District

Mrs. Q says: Thank you to the men and women that fought for, and continue to keep us safe.

Q-tips say: Great museum. One of the best. You can easily spend more than one day in this museum. They do have handouts for children to find things like “special airplanes.”

The Museum does an excellent job telling the story of WWII in an accurate way.  You are given a dog tag that corresponds to a service member; once you board the “train”, you scan the dog tag to meet your service member and hear their story.  The train does not move but gives you the impression that you are in Europe on your way to the Front.   Each exhibit is done up complete with a change in climate (e.g. Europe has snow and pine trees whereas the Pacific has jungles).  All along the way, footage is playing with sound effects; memorabilia abounds – photos of those who gave their lives as well as their story and sometimes letters and personal effects.
