TASTE of Chicago 7/2019

TASTE of CHICAGO – The Taste of Chicago, has are the barbecue ribs, tacos, churros, cream puffs and more available at the five day food festival in Grant Park. The Taste opened Wednesday morning and runs until Sunday. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the weekdays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free and food tickets can be purchased in the park.  Admission is Free – Food is not.

Mrs. Q says:  There are many booths to buy tickets so you DON’T have to stop at the first booth when you enter.  Also, now you can buy drinks with a credit card – not have to tickets for drinks including water, pop, beer, wine, etc.  Much easier and better.

Food lovers will be able to sample cuisine from many vendors, including many food trucks and pop-up restaurants. There are newcomers and more than 30 vegetarian and gluten-free samples. Though the weather was warm, people came out to enjoy the food, weather and the wonderful skyline, & Buckingham Fountain.

Q-Tips say:  They now have pop-ups, food trucks, and each booth must offer at least 2 small taste portions for fewer tickets. The Q’s  always order the small Taste portion and shared. Mrs. Q took a small water in her purse. They do check bags before entering and there are plenty of places to buy ticket along the route. There is not too much you can buy for one or two tickets.
Mrs. Q says: Most taste portions seem smaller than before and just about everything needed more tickets than last year. I think if we go next year we will just go for the walk & smell of the food and views and then go to one of the many nearby restaurants.

Take Public Transportation – parking in a lot is expensive. Again, however, this year did not see a children’s section where the little ones can go and let loose and play and eat along w/ parents. They do offer cooling tents just in case it is very warm out. Don’t forget to enjoy the view of the Lake and Buckingham Fountain.

Go and see Mrs. Daley Park – a great place for families.
