Andre Rieu at the Allstate Arena – 6920 Mannheim Road, Rosemont, Il
André Rieus is a Dutch violinist and conductor best known for creating the waltz-playing Johann Strauss Orchestra. together with his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra and many soloist André Rieu will give you what you’ve come to expect from his performances: the maestro conducting his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra and playing his world-famous Stradivarius violin to create a colorful concert full of surprises. The repertoire ranges from romantic, emotional ballads to the most gorgeous and celebrated waltzes. Andre has a great presence and incorporates humor in his performances. Mrs. Q enjoyed that aspect of the show!
Q tips say: What a showman! Went with “special friends/neighbors” to see a varied show of music, very talented musicians/singers. When is the last time you heard/saw a segment done with bagpipes. He incorporates the audience to join in some of the delightful show. Mrs. Q especially liked: the change of scenery on the large screen behind the orchestra with thoughtful, beautiful scenes that compliment that certain song/performance. Lighting, costumes, entrances by the orchestra were all great.
Only negatives: Not with the performance. Mrs. Q despises the fact that the audience was taking photos, filming, using flash photography with their cell phones and people were able to have food/drinks while the show is on. Popcorn, nacho, munching & talking, taking photos/filming while the show is on. It was in the Allstate Arena which is also used for a hockey rink so perhaps they are more lax regarding photos, food, etc. but it is a distraction to others.
