MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY – 5700 S Lake Shore Dr., Chicago, IL 60637, (773) 684-1414, msichicago.org
Q-TIPS SAY: LOVED IT AS A KID, NOW AS AN ADULT & so does our grown daughter and grandson & son in law. So much to see, so little time. The holiday decorations were out and trees decorated each with ornaments from their own countries – Poland, Tialand, Germany, Australia, etc. Also, it snows inside on the half hour & hour in a designated area. To save some money they offer Chicago residents free days – need to show an ID. No Free Days in summer, that I know of, and take public transportation to save some $$. There is free parking on some of the side streets – could be hard to find but we found one, had to walk 2 blocks to the Museum. This Museum is very good for kids, and adults. Planes, Trains, Submarine, Coal Mine, Body Parts section, Science Storms exhibit, Baby Chicks, Space Exhibit, & Special Exhibits – the tickets sell out fast for the Special Exhibits, which cost extra, so get your tickets early. Mrs. Q suggests: Go on the internet and see the map of the Museum before you go and decide what you really want to see before you go.
Mrs. Q says: Her favorite this visit was that the Museum brought out some items from previous exhibits that have been in storage. Yes, by popular demand Paul Bunyan was back. Who could forget Paul Bunyan’s eyes! Go and enjoy – You could spend the entire day there so if you are hungry they do have a cafeteria, & Ice Cream Parlor or bring your own snacks.
