PEARL’S Southern Comfort Food Rest. – 5352 N Broadway St., Chicago, – (773) 754-7419 http://pearlschicago.com
The Mr. loves spicy food – so he enjoyed his blackened fish and the mac/cheese, and Cajun french fries. Mrs. Q is not a fan of spicy food or Creole cooking. I did enjoy the half chicken which was moist, tender and flavorful & regular fries on our first visit.
This visit was just “ok.” The Mr. had his fish and I had the pork chop w/ red beans & rice, collard greens and a half sweet potato. We agreed that the first time was better. Not sure if it was because it was Father’s Day or was it the loud loud music, or that the drinks were just mediocre and the air conditioning was on below -20 degrees …. So it might be a while till we return to southern comfort food.
Mrs. Q loved the artwork on the walls. There is a rather large photo of “Pearl” the Grandmother of the present owner. Regulars come in for a drink at the bar and of course the Cubs were playing. Pearl’s also has an outdoor patio on the roof top of the rest., but you need to be 21 or older and they serve “small plates” upstairs. But go upstairs during the warmer months and enjoy!
