OAK TREE RESTAURANT – FELTON, CA 2/2018 Closed is now Cowboy Bar

OAK TREE – 5447 Hwy 9, Felton, CA 95018, (831) 335-5551,
http://www.oaktreeristorante.com/

Q-Tips say: Go and enjoy! It is a bit pricey but the food is delicious and organic. They DO NOT ACCEPT Restaurant.com or Groupon discounts anymore. Oak Tree does not have a full bar but offers a decent selection of wines. One of Mrs. Q’s favorite meals is to share the Beet Salad and have the Lamb with Cheesy Polenta and mixed peppers for her Main Entree along with a glass of wine. Perfection!

Their menus are continuously updated based on what new organic and local ingredients are available and in season. They bake their our breads daily (another outstanding feature) and make their own pastas to ensure absolute freshness.

They understand people with dietary restrictions who dine out, and they do their best to make whatever accommodations they can.

Q-Tips say: YES, GO & ENJOY! Where do I begin? The view is spectacular, especially during the sunset hours. Nice bar and main dinning room menus. HENRY COWELL (Redwoods) STATE PARK – FELTON, CA 12/2019

HENRY COWELL PARK – 1400 Felton Empire Rd., Felton, CA 95018, (831) 335-4598 – http://www.santacruzstateparks.org Good for Kids: Yes

Q-Tips say: YES, A MUST SEE – over and over again! Get a trail map located near the Visitor Center(Please return the map when finished) and follow along the numbered markings and learn about this magnificent park.

This park features 15 miles of hiking and riding trails through a variety of forested areas including redwoods, mixed evergreens, riparian, ponderosa pine, as well as rare ancient marine deposits called Santa Cruz sandhills. The Zayante Indians once lived in the area, where they found a land with plentiful natural resources. Henry Cowell Redwoods is home to a centuries old Redwood Grove that features a self-guided nature path. It also boasts other old-growth woods such as Douglas fir, mandrone, oak and a stunning stand of Ponderosa pines. The park has a picnic area above the San Lorenzo River. Anglers fish for steelhead and salmon during the winter (catch and release). The park has a nature center and bookstore.

The main park area contains the large, old-growth redwoods, while the northern area (Fall Creek) has about 20 miles of hiking trails. The tallest tree in the park is about 285 feet tall, and about 16 feet wide. The oldest trees in the park are about 1400 to 1800 years old. Mrs. Q says: Go and enjoy, often.

BIG FOOT MUSEUM – FELTON CA 2019

BIG FOOT MUSEUM – 5497 Hwy 9 Felton, CA 95018 (831) 335-4478 -www.bigfootdiscoveryproject… Good for Kids: YES

Q-Tips say: SEE IT! This museum is funky and fun. Don’t drive too far just to see it, but if you are in the area it is worth seeing. There are exhibits and the wonderful and interesting Mike behind the counter. Mike said there are about five types of Bigfoot (Bigfeet?) which was fascinating. He said he’s been studying Bigfoot for over 60 years! HE IS A BELIEVER! Requested donation was $2.00. If you can afford it give more – word has it – do to lack of funding, it might have to close – what a shame that would be.

Mrs. Q says: If you live in the Bay Area, this is definitely a neat little place to visit. The drive is beautiful and Henry Cowell Park (Redwoods) is RIGHT there. So, be sure to drop by and say hi to Sasquatch and Mike!. Another treat is the “Oak Tree Restaurant” next door. If time permits, go and enjoy their food and wine. See our review under California Restaurants.

(1)100 QUESTIONS/ANSWERS about ANOREXIA NERVOSA – book (2) ANOREXIA

1. 100 Questions/Answer about Anorexia Nervosa – Sari Fine Shepphird, PhD – Empower  Yourself! – If you wish to gain a better understanding of this condition, this book offers a complete guide to understanding the causes, warning signs, diagnosis and  practical suggestions on how to help as well as treatment.  This book covers the subject of Anorexia as a serious and complex psychiatric disorder (mental illness). It covers and explains terms that doctors use in down to earth lay-person language & also provides helpful information for families/friends/others to  support them.  The book covers such questions as: Do Anorexic have a low self esteem? Is there a unique relationship between anorexia and athletes? Are certain ethnic groups affected more than others? Do you know the difference between Bulimia and Anorexia?  Do you know what in the world is “Lanugo”?

2. ANOREXIA  – Daniel A. Leone, book editor. – This book is a little different in that it covers experiences of male/female anorexics. Also touches on some societal subjects, such as:  Society’s Obsession w thinness.  Should SOME Anorexics  have the right to refuse treatment? Insurance Companies need to provide coverage for Anorexics. Does society not take Anorexia as seriously as other diseases?

Mrs. Q says:  I liked the first book a bit better but both covered the illness with great detailed information in a different fashion.  Both books have a wonderful Resource Section of other Books, Associations, Web Sites, etc.

I know most of us have the opposite problem, too much weight. However, this is a serious illness and can lead to death if not properly treated.  So read and expand your knowledge of Anorexia.   It might save a life.  Anorexics literally are Dying to be Thin.

2016 – OBAMA’s AMERICA

OBAMA’S AMERICA – 2016  –  Gerald R. Molen, Dinesh D’Souza

2016 Obama’s America takes audiences on a visual journey into the heart of the world’s most powerful office to reveal the struggle of whether one man’s past will redefine America over the next four years. The film examines the question, “If Obama wins a second term, where will we be in 2016?” Across the globe and in America, people in 2008 hungered for a leader who would unite and lift us from economic turmoil and war. True to America’s ideals, they invested their hope in a new kind of president, Barack Obama. What they didn’t know is that Obama is a man with a past, and in powerful ways that past defines him–who he is, how he thinks, and where he intends to take America and the world. Love him or hate him, do you know him?

Q-Tips say:  Yes, a must see for all thinking Americans, which includes the younger generations. Do you think you know Obama? Interesting that the movie critics do not like this movie as much as the paying public does. This documentary was well written and full of vital, important information that has been ignored by mainstream media thus far.  Mrs. Q says:  What happened to Obama’s Hope and Change?  Do you like his policies? She liked the fact that the director Dinesh D’Souza went forward to point out his view, from the facts that he has, to say what he thinks will happen if Obama gets another four years in the White House.

Mrs. Q says:  A movie everyone should see regardless of ideology.  Yes, Obama’s past does define who he is, as does our past define us. See OBAMA – 2016 and decide for yourself whether he gets your vote for another four years in the White House. Perhaps, OBAMA – 2016 will help you decide.
