MONTY’S LOG CABIN PUB – Felton, CA 2/2018

MONTY’S 5755 Hwy 9, Felton, CA 95018, (831) 335-9969 – No web site

Q-Tips say:The only place we have ever visited (and we have been many places in the USA and Europe) where a local asked us where we were from, and started talking and PAID FOR OUR DRINKS. If you are in the area, MONTY’S is a must see.  You haven’t experienced Felton until you’ve posted up at Montys Log Cabin bar. Super bartenders, pool table, in a real rustic cabin with plenty of taxidermy. There is an outside area which is awesome during the day for chilling in the sun with a cold beer, or at night while sitting by the fire pit chatting it up with other bar patrons. The bartenders are quick witted and always up for a good time. The locals have tons of great stories and are worth talking to. Ladies room even has a padded toilet seat. A biker’s paradise. A fun place. Mrs. Q says:  YES, they have a HAPPY HOUR everyday even on holidays from 3:00 to 6:30.  A fun place where the locals stop for a drink and catch up with one another or visitors. They love to talk with you. They like to party hearty at Monty’s.  Also, if you drink more than usual, don’t expect to find a hotel/motel nearby – there aren’t any. You could drive down the road to “FERN RIVER” but they are usually booked for the weekends/or full weeks at a time.

CHOPSTIX – FELTON, CA 2/2013

CHOPSTIX – 6249 Hwy. 9, Felton, CA – Hours. Sun. – Thu: 11:30am-9:00pm,
Fri & Sat. 11:30am – 9:30pm.
www.Chopstixfood.com

Mrs. Q say: There are several Chinese Restaurants in Felton. Tried the other one and was not impressed. CHOPSTIX was better. Great service, good food, reasonably price and there was a small line of locals picking up orders and several dine in tables were busy. The Won Ton Soup in CA seems to include veggies, small shrimp and wontons. I had a special request of NO veggies or shrimp, just the broth and wontons. They made the order as I requested. The entire food order was delicious.
Give Chopstix a try – I will go again.

OAK TREE RESTAURANT – FELTON, CA 2/2018 Closed is now Cowboy Bar

OAK TREE – 5447 Hwy 9, Felton, CA 95018, (831) 335-5551,
http://www.oaktreeristorante.com/

Q-Tips say: Go and enjoy! It is a bit pricey but the food is delicious and organic. They DO NOT ACCEPT Restaurant.com or Groupon discounts anymore. Oak Tree does not have a full bar but offers a decent selection of wines. One of Mrs. Q’s favorite meals is to share the Beet Salad and have the Lamb with Cheesy Polenta and mixed peppers for her Main Entree along with a glass of wine. Perfection!

Their menus are continuously updated based on what new organic and local ingredients are available and in season. They bake their our breads daily (another outstanding feature) and make their own pastas to ensure absolute freshness.

They understand people with dietary restrictions who dine out, and they do their best to make whatever accommodations they can.

Q-Tips say: YES, GO & ENJOY! Where do I begin? The view is spectacular, especially during the sunset hours. Nice bar and main dinning room menus. HENRY COWELL (Redwoods) STATE PARK – FELTON, CA 12/2019

HENRY COWELL PARK – 1400 Felton Empire Rd., Felton, CA 95018, (831) 335-4598 – http://www.santacruzstateparks.org Good for Kids: Yes

Q-Tips say: YES, A MUST SEE – over and over again! Get a trail map located near the Visitor Center(Please return the map when finished) and follow along the numbered markings and learn about this magnificent park.

This park features 15 miles of hiking and riding trails through a variety of forested areas including redwoods, mixed evergreens, riparian, ponderosa pine, as well as rare ancient marine deposits called Santa Cruz sandhills. The Zayante Indians once lived in the area, where they found a land with plentiful natural resources. Henry Cowell Redwoods is home to a centuries old Redwood Grove that features a self-guided nature path. It also boasts other old-growth woods such as Douglas fir, mandrone, oak and a stunning stand of Ponderosa pines. The park has a picnic area above the San Lorenzo River. Anglers fish for steelhead and salmon during the winter (catch and release). The park has a nature center and bookstore.

The main park area contains the large, old-growth redwoods, while the northern area (Fall Creek) has about 20 miles of hiking trails. The tallest tree in the park is about 285 feet tall, and about 16 feet wide. The oldest trees in the park are about 1400 to 1800 years old. Mrs. Q says: Go and enjoy, often.
