2/3/22 – Two days in the difficult life of the Burrows family, told through the eyes of Miles, the older son and a drug addict.
Q-tips say: Enjoyed this film. See it!
Watched this movie and was amazed at the acting and raw storyline. The film does a great job at bringing important topics like autism and addiction to light and the impacts on a family. Mrs. Q says: I can only imagine how many families personally relate to this film. The chemistry between the little girl and her brother, especially, is real and their acting was so on point. Definitely recommend this film.

2/1/22 – Two years after NFL head coach Sean Payton is suspended, he goes back to his hometown and finds himself reconnecting with his 12-year-old son by coaching his Pop Warner football team.
Q-tips say: Was ok.
Mrs. Q says: It was a little bit of a feel good movie. Actors, a cast of lovable tween boys, and a wholesome tone make this feel-good comedy a natural audience pleaser.
However, a shallow representation of sports, parenthood, and comedy, with almost no laughs.
1/28/22 – After years of searching for his father, a young man, on the run from the law, finds his way into the life of a secluded old man in the woods. As the days go by and secrets about their past are revealed, they realize they may not have been looking for each other but they were brought together for a reason.
Mrs. Q says: I liked it. A beautifully crafted and performed drama. An inspired film centered around faith, redemption, family, and how the decisions that we make ripple forward again and again. It might be a good conversation starter for parents and teens, despite the mildly off-color vocabulary that occasionally crops up in the dialogue.
Mr. Q says: It was ok.

1/18/22 – The Tender Bar tells the story of J.R. (Tye Sheridan), a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie (Ben Affleck), is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures. As the boy’s determined mother (Lily Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous if begrudgingly supportive father (Christopher Lloyd) — J.R. begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic and professional dreams — with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar.
Q-tips say: Yes, see it. We enjoyed it. Follow JR’s life growing up with large family at Grandpa’s house. It’s a decent coming-of-age tale based on a memoir. Story with working-class detail and if the peaks and valleys of J.R.’s life are a little predictable, the cast provide exemplary turns.
Crusty old Grandpa attends a school function – making breakfast with JR.

1/15/22 – In the world of international crime, an Interpol agent attempts to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted art thief.
Q-tips say: OK – silly but we did enjoy to a point. The nice thing here is that the humor outweighs the mindless action.
Mrs. Q says: Keep in mind, it is just a movie. We watched it on a cool rainy evening it was just about perfect for the time and place. It promises good action, charm, absurd journey. A film worth watching for a goofy good time. Just some good dumb fun. The final scene suggests a sequel.
Severe, pale-eyed, handsome, Phil Burbank is brutally beguiling. All of Phil’s romance, power and fragility is trapped in the past and in the land: He can castrate a bull calf with two swift slashes of his knife; he swims naked in the river, smearing his body with mud. He is a cowboy as raw as his hides. The year is 1925. The Burbank brothers are wealthy ranchers in Montana. At the Red Mill restaurant on their way to market, the brothers meet Rose, the widowed proprietress, and her impressionable son Peter. Phil behaves so cruelly he drives them both to tears, reveling in their hurt and rousing his fellow cowhands to laughter — all except his brother George, who comforts Rose then returns to marry her. As Phil swings between fury and cunning, his taunting of Rose takes an eerie form — he hovers at the edges of her vision, whistling a tune she can no longer play. His mockery of her son is more overt, amplified by the cheering of Phil’s cowhand disciples. Then Phil appears to take the boy under his wing. Is this latest gesture a softening that leaves Phil exposed, or a plot twisting further into menace?
Q-tips say: YES, see it. We enjoyed it. Won many awards.
Mrs. Q says: Filmed with stunning scenery, Dog can subvert your early opinions about who is “good” and “evil” in the drama, and make you reconsider your sympathies by the end. The movie is quietly, sneakily stunning.

Q-tips say: Like it. Mrs. Q says: Not sure if I would like it, but I do. So we will be watching it every Monday evening. Sometimes the usual sitcoms are ok – but sometimes not. So this is, for now, a nice change from the usual.

1/2/22 – After his wife’s death, Stéphane moves to the mountains with 8-year-old daughter Vicky, who has stopped talking. One day, while walking in the forest, Vicky discovers a puppy that she decides to keep in secret. She names him Mystery.
Q-tips say: Yes, see it. We enjoyed this movie. It’s irresistible. Mrs. Q says: The movie has a simple plot, gorgeous scenery and adorable trained wolves of various ages depicting the titular pup as he grows up, faces his wildness and tries to reconcile this with his love for a little girl.

12/2021 – Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem: it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical — what will it take to get the world to just look up?!
Q-tips say: How about we say: Don’t look at this movie instead of Don’t Look Up.
Mrs. Q says: This movie strikes a unique tone somewhere between comedy and drama, but ultimately underperforms at both.
