A boy learns to deal with personal loss by making friends with a wild animal in this drama for the family. Jesse (Shane Meier) is a 16-year-old who is trying to put his life back together after the death of his father, who died while trying to rescue him in the wilderness. Jesse goes to live with his Uncle Roy (Michael Biehn), who lives in the rugged mountains of Washington State. While exploring, Jesse finds and rescues a wolf who has been seriously wounded; Jesse bonds with the animal, and while Roy understands the dangers of trying to tend to a wild animal, he allows Jesse to keep him, though Roy suggests that donating the wolf to a zoo might be a good idea. However, Jesse, who is fond of snowboarding, teaches the wolf to be his partner in skijoring, a sport in which a dog is used to haul a man on skis. John Rockwell (Roy Scheider), the owner of a ranch, has different plans for the animal; he sees the wolf as a threat to his stock and is determined to see that the animal is put down. Silverwolf was shot on location in Vancouver.
Q-tips say: We did enjoy. May not be the best loving family at the beginning but changes later. Silver Wolf still comes off as a reasonably entertaining ‘animal movie’.
We tweet, we like, and we share–but what are the consequences of our growing dependence on social media? As digital platforms increasingly become a lifeline to stay connected, Silicon Valley insiders reveal how social media is reprogramming civilization by exposing what’s hiding on the other side of your screen.
Q-tips say: Yes, Yes, see it. Documentary-drama hybrid explores the dangerous human impact of social networking, with tech experts sounding the alarm on their own creations.
“The Social Dilemma” goes the extra explainer-mile by interspersing the interviews with P.S.A.-style fictional scenes of a suburban family suffering the consequences of social-media addiction. There are silent dinners, a pubescent daughter with self-image issues and a teenage son who’s radicalized by YouTube recommendations promoting a vague ideology.
Roger McNamee, an early investor in Facebook, delivers a chilling allegation: Russia didn’t hack Facebook; it simply used the platform.
“The Social Dilemma” is remarkably effective in sounding the alarm about the incursion of data mining and manipulative technology into our social lives and beyond
This British family-oriented romantic adventure centers upon an American researcher’s hunt for Nessie, the reptilian creature said to inhabit the icy depths of Scotland’s Loch Ness. Dempsey spends a long time scanning the depths of the lake with sonar and finds nothing, until he comes across his deceased predecessor’s camera. This movie touched some very interesting factors about the mystical Loch Ness Monster. Ted Danson stars as an US scientist who travels to Scotland with the agenda to prove the existence of the Loch Ness monster. This movie was easy going and interesting,
Q-tips say: See it! You will enjoy this movie. The movie is easy going & interesting. No killing, violence, modern day drama events. Liked the story and the fine touch of humor. The real star of the movie is the young girl.

A fast-living, cynical London music executive (Danny Mays) heads to a remote Cornish village on a stag weekend where he’s pranked by his boss (Noel Clarke) into trying to sign a group of shanty singing fishermen (led by James Purefoy). He becomes the ultimate ‘fish out of water’ as he struggles to gain the respect or enthusiasm of the unlikely boy band and their families (including Tuppence Middleton) who value friendship and community over fame and fortune. As he’s drawn deeper into the traditional way of life he’s forced to re-evaluate his own integrity and ultimately question what success really means.
Q-tips say: See it. It will take your mind off what is going on in the world today. If you’re looking for a feel good, sweet romantic comedy that is based upon a true story – this might be the one. Good story + good music = good time.
8/2020- Three 12-year-old boys play a game in which they spy on an interesting stranger. Their latest target, an aging former high school teacher, befriends the boys and helps one deal with the death of his father. However, the friendship is threatened when the police suspect the man of wrongdoing.
Q-tips say: Think EVERYONE should see this movie. People are so quick to judge people. This movie is a lesson in not jumping to conclusions about someone, until you know more about them and their reasons for their actions. However, parents do need to be sure their kids are safe, so learn about the people the kids interact with & see.

Q-Tips say: Go and Enjoy! Went with long time friends. Doing this Chicken Run for 13 years now and counting. Yes, it is a little less than an hour from Chicago to Shorewood and then another 45 min.s to Rip’s, but worth the drive because of the chicken.
They farm their own chicken and it is moist and tender. There’s no sit down menu at Rip’s. You order while standing in line: chicken strips or quarters of light or dark meat, hand-cut french fries, pickles or fried mushrooms; as an appetizer, there are “crumbles”–fried bits of batter. The chicken is superb, moist and tender, with a light delicate flaky crust. Yes, depending on the day, there is a line waiting clear out the front door. So grab yourself a drink and stand in line with the others and talk, wait for your turn or go on Sun. when they open early. The Q’s started our visit with long time friends at their home in Shorewood, Il and then drive to Rip’s. Great friends, visit and great fun meal. Started with the Crumbles, the breaded droppings from the cooking chicken, pickles to cut the grease, an order of the mushrooms, beer and then the delicious chicken. The chicken is cooked fresh while you wait and comes pipping hot to the table over a piece of white bread to soak up the dripping, with fresh cooked fries. No silverware, only if you ask for it, but plenty of napkins and no handy wipes. Service is excellent & very well organized. The cost was very reasonable. The bill came to around $25.00 per couple. We ordered 4 orders of chicken, 2 orders of mushrooms, and two pitchers of beer. One of the least expensive and tasty meals we had in a long time.
Mrs. Q says: The crumbles and pickles starters would not be everyday eating for me but our once a year visit to Rip’s is a treat. Looking forward to next year! Glad I don’t have a cholesterol test tomorrow. Eating a lot of Chicken lately, afraid I might start to Cluck or lay an egg! Same time next year with these wonderful friends.
A bit of History:
“Rip” Gualandri founded the tavern in 1936, and “there have been lines clear back to the corner” a block away for four decades. “If you’re in a hurry it’s not the place to come.” Has always been inexpensive “Cheap and good. Still is.” Rip’s is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for private parties. Other days it’s open only for dinner, but the restaurant still goes through 4,000 pounds of chicken and 3,000 pounds of potatoes a week.
While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man (Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya) and a black woman (Jodie Turner-Smith), are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country.
Q-tips say: If you like what is going on now in our world. killing, brutality, protesting, etc. & want to see more of it, see this.
With all the protests we have seen and movements resulting from police brutality, the timing of this movie was not accidental. Created a largely fabricated picture of American life as dominated by a virtual race war.
Mrs. Q says: A White cop pulls over two black people & evidently this cop is an angry murdering maniac. The woman, who is supposed to be a criminal lawyer, triggers a murder, which is the part they got right. After the guy kills the cop they go on the run & run & run. That was enough for me to say no, don’t see it. Not sure who was Queen or who was slim.
Her mother is dead. Her fiancé is now her ex. And the airline lost her luggage. This begins Nina’s first trip to Los Angeles. As a deathbed promise to her mother, Nina vows to find her sister Carrie who moved to L.A. years ago and hasn’t communicated with her family in months. Nina’s only clue is an apartment address in The Valley, but Carrie’s spiritual and earthy roommate Yasmina is little help. However, Yasmina allows Nina to stay in her sister’s room where she begins to piece together what happened to Carrie. Her journey as a novice detective is helped, but frequently hindered, by a variety of self-absorbed Angelenos. In addition to the not-quite zen Yasmina, Nina encounters the polyamorous writer couple Jack and Prudence, two detectives who aren’t on speaking terms with each other, a fastidious money man and his pug, and a surprising romance. Nina’s quest leads her to The Superior, the enigmatic leader of an organization who Nina believes holds the key to the whereabouts of Carrie. Nina continues digging deeper into a side of Los Angeles that outsiders rarely see in her quest to find her sister and get Closure.
Q-tips say: It is just ok. No, I’m not going to be a “spoiler” by telling you if she does find her sister. She does meet a group of really different people along the way. Some good/some not.
