Life on Paper at Jackalope Theater 6/2019

Life on Paper – Jackalope Theatre  – 5917 N. Broadway. – Edgewater, (773) 340-2553,  jackalopetheatre.org

Presenting  the hilarious and heartfelt play about the value of life and the infinity of the soul.

After his proof for the Riemann Hypothesis (one of the world’s last great math puzzles) disastrously flames out, Mitch Bloom, a brilliant mathematician finds himself working as a consultant using complex algorithms to set the value of human lives in wrongful death cases. His knack for de-valuing lives has made him the darling of the insurance companies, but what will he do when the wrongful death of a billionaire philanthropist crosses his desk, and the future of a small town hangs in the balance?

Q-tips say: OK. Mrs. Q says: “Life on Paper” sounded better on paper than it actually was. Mrs. Q thought there is a bit too much “naval gazing.”  Clever how they move the sets throughout the play. A playhouse we can walk to.

After the Theater, we walked across the street to Cellars Bar & Grill for dinner 🙂 Mrs. Q says: the Salmon was delicious along with the Caesar Salad. The Mr. had a Pork Chop and shared the Caesar Salad.

Lincoln Park GREEK Fest 6/2019

Lincoln Park GREEK Fest – Sheffield & Diversey, Chicago from 5/3/ to 6/2/19

Q-tips say: Was ok – nice day for walking around.  Live music on Sat. & Sun. We took public transportation.  Yes, they ask for a $5.00 donation to enter but accept any amount.

Otherwise: Extremely VERY LOUD MUSIC over the speakers 🙁  Can’t even carry on a decent conversation – turn it down a notch. EYXAPIETO! (means Thank you!)

Greek food/hand made items/vendors selling olive oil & Kalamata olives, etc.  Had several places for testing your strength.  Hanger from your hands from a bar for 100 second- not as easy as one might think. Can’t use gloves, etc. That was $10.00 for that ticket but if you were successful, you won $100.00.

For Mr. Q it is about the food – food was ok but a tad overpriced – $8.00 for a beer.  $10 for a  Gyros plate, which we shared. Yes, they have a bounce house and a bounce house w/ slide for the little one. If you are bringing little ones, please bring ear plugs for them, since you don’t want them to loose their hearing because you came here.

The MULE – streaming 5/2019

The MULE – Earl Stone, (Clint Eastwood) a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well — so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him.

Q-tips say: Entertaining movie. Mrs. Q says:  A cast helps deliver this middle-of-the-road tale of an old geezer rebuilding the bridge to his disassociated family. This is possible mainly due to the mad money the guy makes by running drugs. Also, Mrs. Q says:  Some of the scenes are not real realistic since he is 90.

The crowd you’re with 5/2019

The crowd you’re  with – Raven Theater –  6157 N Clark St., Chicago – (773) 338-2177,    http://raventheatre.com

A backyard barbecue is the perfect place to tackle life’s big questions: Is the chicken done? Does the band need a new tune? Is this the right time to have a baby? Gilman’s fresh and moving play takes an intimate look at modern families, friendships and the ins and outs of love.

Q-tips say:  Liked it.  Several couples, different age levels, and singles ponder the questions of life. Mrs. Q says: they should shorten the part when the older couple decides to share some of their life stories about themselves/children, etc. –  it was a tad long.      The ending was a surprise when a younger couple decides about a baby.

Was a beautiful day for a walk to the theater, which is always a treat.  And then believe it or not, we ate at home. 🙂

The Winter’s Tale 5/2019

Winter’s Tale – Goodman Theater –  170 N Dearborn St., Chicago,  (312) 443-3800,  goodmantheatre.org

A jealous king accuses his wife of infidelity, setting off a calamitous series of events. But what begins as tragedy evolves, unexpectedly, into a fantastical journey—from wrath to redemption to reconciliation.

Q-tips say:  Was a Shakespeare play – a bit of a dialogue difficulty in the beginning but overcame that very fast & overall good and entertaining.  Mrs. Q had a younger man next to her that was fidgeting around – could not sit still.  Oh well. Perhaps Shakespeare is not his thing.

Tiki Bar at Peridia Golf & CC – 2020

Tiki Bar – Yes, it is fun to sit around the pool under an umbrella to have a drink and converse with friends. Drew, the bartender, makes it fun to drink your libations.   Do it the winter because you probably won’t want to be outside doing it in the hot humid muggy summer unless you don’t mind the heat.

Muse at the Ringling 4/2019

Muse at the Ringling – 5401 Bay Shore Rd., Sarasota, FL 34243 – (941) 360-7390 –    tableseide.com/muse

Q tips say: After an all day visit to the Ringling Museum, we and our guests were thirsty.  I offered them some water but our guests wanted some libations.  So we stopped at the Muse for a drink and munchies. Great place, menu for drinks/lunch/dinner, etc. Three beers and one Prosecco.  Mr. Q also enjoyed a cup of their home made Chili. Table seating was fairly full and our guests, from Chicago, did not want to wait so we sat at the bar area.  That was a great decision.  We had a  fun time with the bartender – “Shaq.”  She is a great server/bartender and funny.  Shaq made our visit especially enjoyable.

The Q’s will make an effort to return to Muse to enjoy an evening meal & say hi to Shaq.
