Mrs. Q says: “The Paper” delivers a some what wholesome, hilarious, and perhaps surprisingly accurate look at the struggles of media in the modern age. However, rate this a tad lower than “The Office. Solely because of… ESMERELDA. 🙄🙄 This character is so insufferable and annoying. Every time she speaks on screen, it is like nails on a chalkboard.

A seemingly ordinary decision turns the world of Elisa, mom to two young kids, upside down. When her daughter Lucia asks to go to a sleepover at her new best friend Josie’s house, Elisa agrees. After meeting Josie’s mother, Rebecca, she’s put at ease by her charming nature and their impressive house. The movie blends mystery, drama, and a touch of humor in a very entertaining way. Especially liked that the main characters are older adults, with characters full of experience and depth, which gives the story a unique charm and realism. Each character has their own personality and brings something special to the group, making the plot both intriguing and moving. It’s refreshing to see stories where older people have leading roles with such vitality and complexity.

The castle which is the set is just stunning. This is a perfect “cozy murder” movie for fall! However, there are heavy accents to deal with, so turn on the sub-titles if needed.

What a beautiful little surprise “Adopt a Highway” turned out to be. Ethan Hawke is tender, touching, and it is a moving experience & he spends much of his time talking honestly to baby Ella.

Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City, determined to find him and make things right. A rebellious teenager, future Beatle John Lennon (Aaron Johnson) lives with his Aunt Mimi (Kristin Scott Thomas) in working-class Liverpool, England. Mimi’s husband suddenly dies, and John spies his mother, Julia (Anne-Marie Duff), at the funeral. Despite Mimi’s misgivings, John intends to have a real relationship with his mother. Julia introduces him to popular music and the banjo and, though a family conflict looms, young Lennon is inspired to form his own band.

Q-tips say: Yes, we did enjoy this movie.

Very well done movie. Even though it was filled with music, I loved how it didn’t really get into The Beatles (and I’m a huge Beatles fan), but really stuck to John’s painful story. It was beautifully acted and directed. Very moving. Cinematography was was wonderful. Just a good movie all around. A true story of human frailty and love.
