The incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Stone was honored for her tour-de-force performance as Bella Baxter, a childlike woman in Victorian London who comes to life through a brain transplant and begins a journey of self-discovery.
Q-tips say: We would NOT recommend this movie for all. Poor Things is a weird, – just be prepared for adult themes (many many sex scenes & nudity) & other themes that may unsettle, or offend some viewers.
Mrs. Q says: FYI – Definitely not for children. Some scenes were really uncomfortable to watch. Not only because of the nudity & many many sex scenes but because what was happening to the main character. The film contains many graphic sex scenes that do very little to forward the plot.
