Since her mother’s death, Dana has dedicated herself to Fullerton Airways and her mother’s dream of a regional airline providing critical services to remote Australian communities. The intrepid bush pilot juggles sightseeing flights with medical trips and mail drops, all while arguing with her father (Roy Billing) about balancing compassion with profits. Dana Randall is an ultra-committed pilot for non-profit air service, Fullerton Airways, located in picturesque Far North Queensland. Along with her father Jeff and mechanic BFF Nikki, the small team works together to provide the essential air services the local island communities relies on. When London based ITCM Financial representative William is sent to Fullerton Airways to review the organization’s financials, Dana welcomes him, aware that they rely heavily on his company’s subsidies. What Dana doesn’t know is that William’s audit is to confirm the business’s financial struggles and to prepare for its closure. As William spends time with Dana and the Island community, his loyalty is torn. He is falling for Dana and the feeling seems mutual… that is, until she accidentally discovers his true purpose.

Q-tips say: Yes, we did enjoy it. It is filmed in Australia so you get some wonderful scenery of Down Under to enjoy. Love is in the Air is a likeable and uplifting romantic comedy with charming and convincing performances at its heart.

This film won’t keep you anywhere near the edge of your seat. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Gary (Jamie Foxx) to save his family business. Tempers flare and laughter ensues as the unlikely pair bond while exposing corporate corruption and racial injustice in this inspirational, triumphant story.

Q-tips say: YES, see it! “The Burial” remains true to its focus on race, class, and how capitalism exploits both regardless of a person’s color or financial means. The message is not subtly delivered, but it’s still effective.

Mrs. Q says: “The Burial” is a crowd-pleasing David versus Goliath social drama. Who knew that a legal battle about a funeral home could be this compelling?

Single mom Flora (Eve Hewson) is at a loss about what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find Max a hobby, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up LA musician (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music. “Flora and Son” explores the bond between a mother and son on a journey toward a new harmony.

Q-tips say: Yes, watch it! She is really amazing as a frustrated young mother who sparks interest in music. The songs and music were pretty good and it’s a pretty feel-good film. It has some minor flaws, but this film still is a nice little film which one might enjoy. What starts as a rocky, failed flirtation between Flora and her music teacher becomes a lovely sequence of a growing long-distance relationship.

They say a dog is a man’s best friend, but what if the man is a total dirtbag? In that case, it might be time for some sweet revenge, doggy style. When Reggie (Will Ferrell), a naïve, relentlessly optimistic Border Terrier, is abandoned on the mean city streets by his lowlife owner, Doug. Reggie is certain that his beloved owner would never leave him on purpose. But once Reggie falls in with a fast-talking, foul-mouthed Boston Terrier named Bug, a stray who loves his freedom and believes that owners are for suckers, Reggie finally realizes he was in a toxic relationship and begins to see Doug for the heartless sleazeball that he is. Determined to seek revenge, Reggie, Bug and Bug’s pals–Maggie, a smart Australian Shepherd who has been sidelined by her owner’s new puppy, and Hunter, an anxious Great Dane who’s stressed out by his work as an emotional support animal–together hatch a plan and embark on an epic adventure to help Reggie find his way home… and make Doug pay by biting off the appendage he loves the most. (Hint: It’s not his foot.)

Q-tips say: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON this Piece of Trash. Don’t let the photos of cute dogs lure you in – Strays relies primarily on sex and toilet humor to bring on the laughs.

Mrs. Q says: Definitely NOT for children – Strong crude sexualised material involving visual scenes of sexual activity involving animals such as dogs and squirrels.

A man is seen masturbating vigorously on several occasions.

It’s implied that Doug is a sex offender.

Strays takes a promising idea for an adult-centered comedy and blows it by shooting for the lowest bar possible.

The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life — and her father’s crown — in jeopardy.

Q-tips say: YES, SEE IT! Parts of this movie are truly enchanting, especially the underwater scenes. The opening moments on Prince Eric’s ship are thrillingly filmed and the “Under the Sea” number is a glorious.

When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.

Q tips say: DO NOT WATCH THIS. Was Incredibly dull and disturbing, Hereditary is a poorly made horror film. The script isn’t very good either, as it takes forever to get to the plot. Hereditary is a trying film that’s hard to watch and offers little to no payoff.

A once-respected surgeon who’s lost his family and his memory gets a chance at redemption when he reconnects with someone from his forgotten past.

Q-tips say: Yes, watch it. The movie is a story about a surgeon called Professor Rafal Wilczur who loses his memory, family and everything else after a rather violent mugging.

He was deemed dead, but he resurfaces years later. In doing so, he also reconnects with his long lost daughter. Forgotten Love is a story about human resilience, grit and determination.

Mrs. Q says: The action takes place in Poland. Forgotten Love is a movie for those who want to glimpse into the Polish culture prevalent in the earlier times. You might also enjoy the scenery. It speaks about the social conditions, the medical system in Poland and also highlights the plight of women in the rural lands. Coming from a novel written in 1937, it reflects the social conditions aptly in the film.

9/2023 – Jules follows Milton (Ben Kingsley) who lives a quiet life of routine in a small western Pennsylvania town, but finds his day upended when a UFO and its extra-terrestrial passenger crash land in his backyard. Before long, Milton develops a close relationship with the extra-terrestrial he calls “Jules.” Things become complicated when two neighbors (Harriet Sansom Harris and Jane Curtin) discover Jules and the government quickly closes in. What follows is a funny, wildly inventive ride as the three neighbors find meaning and connection later in life — thanks to this unlikely stranger.

Q-tips say: Yes, see it. We enjoyed it. Surprisingly charming & it had subtle humor that we liked.

This sci-fi comedy/drama about 3 elderly people wo take care of an alien has charm & poignant observations about aging & dementia.

A kind of “E.T.” for AARP, with a gentleness to the story that is very endearing.
