3/25/22 – Two childhood best friends reunite as an unlikely crime-fighting superhero duo when one invents a formula that gives ordinary people superpowers.
Q-tips say: Kind of goofy but got a few laughs out of it. Obviously one can’t take this movie seriously. However, since it took place in Chicago about taking care of crime in the city, where are they now? The city could use some of their help & so can the Mayor.
Seeing women in their 40s kicking butt, taking on a new lease on life because it’s never too late to go after what you want and do what you want was a new look at women & their powers. You go ladies!

3/21/22 – After watching her dad paint, 4-year-old Marla Olmstead decides she’d like to be a painter too. Showing remarkable facility, she’s soon got paintings hanging in a local coffee shop and a handful of interested buyers. A local paper picks up the story, followed by the New York Times, and overnight Marla is hailed as a child prodigy. But not everybody is convinced that Marla painted the works alone. In the wake of a “60 Minutes” piece about her, it begins to look more and more like she had help.
Q-tips & visiting adult kids say: Interesting movie but My Kid Could Paint That gets people thinking and talking. Marla’s story is a sobering illustration of the way children can be exploited by adults who should know better journalists, filmmakers and especially their own parents.

One Dali Blvd. St. Petersburg, FL. www.thedali.org – 727.823.3767
3/22/22 – Q-tips & their adult kids say: YES, see it.
What a great visit.
Mrs. Q says: Salvador Dalí made paintings, sculptures and films about the dreams he had. He painted melting clocks and floating eyes, clouds that look like faces and rocks that look like bodies.
Sounds weird right? Think about what your paintings would look like if you painted your dreams? I bet they would be pretty weird too!
Dalí was involved with surrealism. This was an art movement where painters made dream-like scenes and showed situations that would be bizarre or impossible in real life to shock & scare.
Dalí was even expelled from art school just before his final exams because he said that none of the teachers were qualified to examine him.
Salvador Dalí went to Paris after leaving art school, which was where he met the surrealists. The surrealists appealed to his wild sense of humor, they invented surrealist games and enjoyed putting different objects together to make something playful and disturbing at the same time. Here is Dalí’s version of a surrealist sculpture. It is called Lobster Telephone.
You couldn’t call anything on that!
Dalí liked to use lots of different materials to make art, including paint, sculpture and film. He even designed furniture, jewels and scenery for theatre production. He was a man of many talents and he is still seen as a great artist who influences many artists today!
What do you think of Dalí’s artwork? Is it funny, weird…scary?
3/23/22- Retired talent manager Al reconnects with former client Buddy, a comedian who gave up performing decades ago, and urges him to go back out on the road.
Q-tips say: Was ok. Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfuss are a sight for sore eyes, but they unfortunately do not get The Last Laugh in a generic buddy comedy that never musters any jokes worthy of their comedic chops. The film has too many weak points to recommend immediately adding to your queue, but off the strength of Dreyfuss’ performance, it’s worth checking out.
3/22/22 – “Licorice Pizza” is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973.
Q-tips & our visiting adult kids say:
Don’t waste your time watching this. Four thumbs down.

Q-tips & visiting adult kids say: Was just ok – nothing really special. The Early Bird menu had a few things to order from but the regular menu’s prices were over-priced. They advertise a Happy Hour but when we asked them to make an Old Fashion drink with their Happy Hour bourbon, the waiter said, “No can do.”
Mrs. Q says: There are many other restaurants to go to & enjoy in St. Petersburg- try one of them.
