The Bad Guys

7/3/22 –

A crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws are about to attempt their most challenging con yet–becoming model citizens. Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys–dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf , seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake, chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark, “muscle” Mr. Piranha and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good. Under the tutelage of their mentor Professor Marmalade, an arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for: acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become… The Good Guys?

Q-tips say: Yes, we did like it. Animated, silly, & yes, a movie for the entire family could watch. Mrs. Q says: Probably not for the real little ones but teens & old folks, like us. A mindless silly movie to watch to escape the politics/violence, etc. we read/see in today’s world. So see it, relax & have a laugh.

The Mist –

6/22 – Stephen King’s 1980 novella “The Mist” — adapted into a feature film by Frank Darabont in 2007 — is re-imagined this time for TV by executive producer/writer Christian Torpe. Set in the small town of Bridgeville, Maine, the story centers on a family torn apart by a heinous crime. In the aftermath, they are suddenly cut off from the rest of the world when an eerie, foreboding vapor unleashes predatory creatures onto the streets. Family, friends, and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, as the rules of society break down.

Q-tips say: A foreboding mist arrives in a small town, ushering in a terrifying new reality for its residents and putting their humanity to the test. If you are a Steven King fan, you might enjoy it. However, The Q’s were disappointed in the ending. Certainly, not a feel good movie.

Christmas Inheritance

7/2022 – Before ambitious heiress Ellen Langford can inherit her father’s business, she must deliver a special Christmas card to her dad’s former partner in Snow Falls. When a snowstorm strands her at the town inn, she discovers the true gift of Christmas.

Q-tips say: Yes, see it.  We thought this was the perfect sappy, hallmark type Christmas movie about getting back to your roots, and valuing people and community. I’m not sure why some reviews were so terrible? It’s not gonna win any awards but we liked it.

6/29/22 – 5545 N Sheridan Rd. Chicago, IL 60640 – edgewaterbeachcafe.net (773) 275-4141

Q-tips say: The Edgewater Beach Cafe is the restaurant in the big pink hotel at the end of Lake Shore Drive on Bryn Mawr and Sheridan. The real highlight is admiring the hotel surroundings.

We decided to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary dinner at EBC.

Starter: We shared the: Shrimp de Jonghe – Jumbo shrimp sautéed with garlic, onions, butter, and white wine; topped with breed crumbs and baked.

Entrees: Mrs. Q had: Roasted Rack of Lamb – Lamb pan-seared and served with garlic, rosemary, & olive oil. Couscous & cucumber salad. It was delicious.& plenty to share if you desire.

Mr. Q had: Broiled Salmon w/Lemon Pepper – he chose Couscous & cucumber salad as his sides.

We shared the Crème brulee for dessert.

Enjoyed the Drinks/Food/the quiet Ambiance of the Restaurant. We walked there but took Mrs. Q’s favorite bus back #147.

Hats off to the Lady in the Kitchen, “Good Cooking.”

A castle for Christmas

6/24/22 – To escape a scandal, a bestselling author journeys to Scotland, where she falls in love with a castle — and faces off with the grumpy duke who owns it.

Q-tips & adult kids say: Yes, see it!

A comfy cozy, non-challenging film that filled with great things to look at, the handsome leads, the idyllic rural village and its colorful citizens, loads of Christmas décor and a sweeping, winter landscape.

A Castle for Christmas does something totally underrated: It gives us exactly what we want during a holiday season or not a holiday season.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse Universe of Madness

6/23/22 -Unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Q-tips say: For some strange reason, she did enjoy it. I believe it was the multi universe aspect of the movie. The other half said: Was ok to watch periodically but not all the time. The adult kids: liked it.

Mrs. Q says: It’s a movie that is going to service fans… but even if you aren’t a fan you can come into it and embrace it as a standalone film.

Jerry & Marge Go Large

6/22/22 –

JERRY & MARGE GO LARGE is inspired by the remarkable true story of retiree Jerry Selbee, who discovers a mathematical loophole in the Massachusetts lottery and, with the help of his wife, Marge, wins millions and uses the money to revive their small Michigan town.

Q-tips say: Yes see it. Relaxing and charming film, where the conflicts are not too serious, the obstacles that Jerry and Marge have to face are not particularly complicated, and the protagonists are smart and good, and the antagonists are bad. However, Walter White; bland, unassuming, but up to some sneakiness he initially doesn’t tell his wife about. Only in “Jerry and Marge,” his wife and the whole town eventually get to be in on the fun.

Mrs. Q says: Jerry and Marge Go Large’ may not win awards or earn a fortune, but it made me smile—and I don’t take that for granted, especially nowadays.

Chgo River Boat Architectural Tour 6/24/22

Tours & Boats- Photo of Chicago's First Lady - Chicago, IL, United States

Chicago’s impressive architectural works- learned a lot.

Fri. 6/24/22 –  A wonderful Tour with Tours & Boats. Our tour guide, Hillary, was wonderful, full of knowledge & had a great presentation with humor & kindness mixed in.  We all enjoyed the tour.  The boat was clean.

Q-tips say: Yes, do it.  We have been on other boat tours in Chicago but never been one one that covered all channels of the River. The tour boats float by well-known structures such as the Merchandise Mart, Navy Pier and Willis Tower while passengers learn about the city’s famed architecture.

The Boat offers drinks, snacks and have a washrooms on the lower level.

Mrs. Q asks? Do you know the correct answers about Chi-Town?

  1. Do you know how many movable bridges Chicago has? 52
  2. What City produces the most Chocolate? Chicago & probably the Chicagoans eat the most Chocolate.
  3. Did Oprah live in Lake Point Towers? NO. Oprah never lived at Lake Point Tower but was a regular visitor.  Anthony Quinn, Ryne Sandberg, Sammy Sosa and David Axelrod did live there.

After our Boat Tour we stopped at: Shaw’s Crab house for dinner.

PS: Please, people from all countries, when there is an emergency and the captain/or tour guide tells you to sit down, DO IT! Thank you.
